REPORTS FROM NORTHERN CENTRES.

AUCKLAND, August 28. Fine weather continued during the week-end, but to-day a boisterous wind was blowing from the west. The sky was overcast and threatening, and the barometer is falling, and now registers 30.15 in. WELLINGTON, August 28.

A strong northerly wind on Saturday freshened to gale force during the night, and early on Sunday morning was still blowing in terrific gusts. As the wind slackened rain began to fall heavily, and the downpour continued throughout the day. During the morning the wind changed to the south, and there was an appreciable drop in the temperature. CHRISTCHURCH, August 28. Saturday was dry, and a warm nor’west wind was blowing. During the night the wind changed to a bleak southwester, and continuous light rain fell till early in the afternoon, when it ceased, but the conditions remain threatening. The barometer, which is rising, registered 30.07 at 5 p.m. HUTT RIVER IN FLOOD (Per United Press Association.) WELLINGTON, August 28. The heavy vain caused a flood in the Hutt River, and the water is across the road at the Silverstream bridge and in the Taita Gorge. The Manor Park golf course is under water. No losses are reported.
