The annual meeting of the Tapanui Bowling Club was held on Thursday evening, when Mr F. Lischner (president) presided- over a fair attendance; .■ • The annual report and balance' sheet, which were read by the secretary, stowed the club to be in a sound financial position.
The chairman reviewed the' past year?s activities, and in doing so stated.(bat,the season had in all respects, been a very enjoyable one. Matches had been played against Heriot and Miller’s. Flat Clubs. He wished to thank the' ladies’ section' for the staunch support both financially and in catering for matches,-and also the committee for, its valuable Support.- f..ZThe following officers were elected:--President, Mr F. Lischner; ivice-preqideht, Mr- Thomas Yarcoe; secretary, Mr J. F, Harrison; green supervisor,,. Mr F. Lischner; auditor, Mr E. L. Sturgess; committee —Messrs J. Slack, D. J. Smith, and F. Kronmg; delegate, Mr. J. R. Henderson.-i ( ■ '•RIFLE : ■ ■The Tapanui Defence Riffe Club fired its final cup match on’Saturday, when the weather'was fine and dull, with a tricky wind. Rifleman E. C. Sim won the 'cup with 10, points to spare. The. detailed results are as follow:
Range prizes;—300 yards, J. Burnett 31; 500 yards, W. Hancox 34; 600 yards, J. A. McDonald 33. -■>
Leading aggregates:—E. C. Sim 326, J. Burnett 316. K. Rodger 315.
PERSONAL. Mr A. E. Fastier, inspector..; of .vthe v National Bank of New Zealand,, is at present on an official visit to the local » branch of the bank.
Mr 8. J. Drew, who has been transferred to the Pleasant Point School, South; Canterbury, was presented by the headmaster, on behalf •of - the school staff and pupils, with a wristlet watch and pipe, ftior to the breaking-up,of the school on riday last. Mr Drew, in- returning thanks for their gifts, expressed regret , at, his departure from the district.
