ASSOCIATION FOOTBALL
INTERPROVINGIAL FIXTURE CANTERBURY v. OTAGO. Great interest is being centred in the match between Otago and Canterbury for the English football Association Trophy, which will be played a't Logan Park this afternoon, and the public are sure to witness a fast and thrilling exhibition of the round-ball code. In August of last year when these teams met at Logan Park in a trophy match Otago proved victorious after a most attractive game by three goals to two, and the respective teams as selected this year, regarded as being superior in all-round playing strength, should stage another keen and pleasing game. The Canterbury players arrived by the express last night, and were welcomed by members of the local association, after which they were escorted to their quarters at the Rugby Hotel. If the conditions permit it, a curtainraiser will be played between the RoelynWakari and High School teams, both of which are at present leading in the Third Division competition. For the convenience of the large crowd of spectators who are expected to witness the match, arrangements have been made for extra cars and buses to run to the ground. During the interval the Pipe Band will march round the N ground playing the quickstep. The teams will line out as follow: CANTERBURY (Red and Black). Goal, E. Barnes; full-backs, S. Cawtheray, W. Elelly; halves—F. Adams, A. Sutherland, A, Walker; forwards —J., Anderson, D. Sutherland, A. Trotter, J. Bruce, W. Thomas. OTAGO (Dark Blue). Goal, J. M‘Dougall; full-backs, Taylor, G. Anderson; halves—Gordon, A. Brown, W. Chapman; forwards—S. Duncan, T. M'Hugh, W. Hooper, T. M'Cormack, H. Balk. . After the match, in front of the pavilion, the trophy will be presented to the winning team by the Mayor (Mr R. S. Black).
