SUNDAY SERVICES

The Rev. D. C. Herron will conduct anniversary services at Knox Church tomorrow, when special music will be rendered by the church and junior choirs. The evening subject will be “ The Snare of the Middle Years.” At First Church to-morrow the Rev. W. Allen Stevely will preach in the morning on “The Universal Christ,” and in the evening on “Roses in June.” The organist will be Dr V. E. Galway. The Rev. E. S. Tuckwell will conduct both services at the Hanover Street Baptist Church. The morning subject will be “ Preparing the Way of the Lord,’ and the evening “The Way to Eternal Life.” Miss Edith Ritchie will sing “O Lord be Mindful.” At the St. Kilda Methodist Church the Rev. Percy Paris will preach in the morning on “ A Definition of the Kingdom,” and in the evening on “ The Element of Chance.” The anthem will be J. Elliott’s “ Blessed be the Lord.” At 7.45 p.m. there will be the Open Forum for Questions and Discussion. The Rev. T. Flower will conduct the evening sacramental service at the United Congregational Church, Miss Mavis Johnston being the soloist. At the morning service the Rev. James M. Smeeth will speak to the children on “ Pencils ” and to the adults on “ Come and See.” The Rev. F. E. Foot will conduct • the morning service at Trinity Methodist Church, Stuart street, to-morrow. In the evening the Rev. H. E. Bellhouse will be the preacher, taking as his subject “ Sundar Singh, the Great Indian Saint and Prophet.” A duet will be sung by Messrs J. Simpson and B. C. Bellhouse, and the choir will render the anthem, “ Father, Whose Almighty Power.” The Rev. A. C. W. Standage will conduct the services to-morrow at the Maori Hill Presbyterian Church. In \the evening the anthem “ Sweet is Thy Mercy ” (Barnby) will be sung, with Miss Rule as soloist, and Mr W. Paget Gale will play “Andante and “Largnetto” (Wesley) and “ Meditation Religieuse ” (Keteley). Special services will be held at the Salvation Army, Dowling street, tomorrow. The corps Cadet Brigade will take a prominent part. Adjutant Tong will give an address on “Vision and Venture” at the morning service, and “ Sealed Orders by the Cadets ” in the afternoon. At the evening service Sis. Tullock (C.C. Guardian) will give an address.

There will be special services at the Methodist Central Mission, Octagon Hall, to-morrow at 11 a.m., 2.30 p.m., and 6.30 p.m. At 2.30 p.m. there will be the dedication of teachers in the new Sunday School Hall, and the address will be given by*the Rev. H. E. Bellhouse. At 6.30 p.m. there will be a great youth gathering, when the Rev. Leslie B. Neale will preach on " Christ’s Challenge to Youth.” Young people are especially invited to this service. Mr D. W. M. Burn will be the speaker at the Theosophical Society to-morrow evening, his item will be part 2 of “ The Valley of the Shadow." . Services at the Moray Place Congregational Church will be conducted by the Rev. Albert Mead, The evening service will be broadcast by 4YA, when the choir will render “ Come Unto Me,” from “ The Two Harvests,” by Tozer. Miss Anne White and Mr John Leech will sing “ Love Divine All Loves Excelling.” Sunday school will be held at 11 a.m. The Rev. Lionel B. Fletcher’s closing meetings in connection with the NorthEast Valley evangelistic campaign are announced in the religions column of this issue. He will conduct a men’s meeting to-morrow afternoon, when his subject will be “The Secret of a Man’s Strength,” and in the evening there will be an after-church rally. On Monday and Tuesday evenings the mission will be held in the Valley Presbyterian Church, and on Wednesday evening in Knox Church.
