(From Odr Own Correspondent.) BRIGHTON. May 19. UNEMPLOYMENT WORK. The unemployed are still receiving work under the No. 5 scheme. Those employed bv the Domain Board are still working on improvements to the domain, completing a cycle track for racing purposes. The football and hockey grounds have also received a good deal of attention, and will eventually become very fine playing areas. The remainder of the unemployed under the control of the Taien County, Council are also doing good work on the improvement of the back roads, and now that the days are becoming shorter they art. expected to be transferred to the township to finish the work that is still necessary on the roads already started. RATEPAYERS’ ASSOCIATION. The monthly meeting of the committee of the Brighton Ratepayers Association was held on Wednesday evening, Mr Robert Wales presiding over a fair attendance of members. / Mr Wales and Mr Aslin reported on various matters with which they had to deal regarding the furthering of the interests of the district. • , , f The secretary was instructed to forward a letter of congratulation to Cr MTntosh on his re-election to the Taien County Council as member for the district. _
