The fortnightly meeting of Court Pride of the Leith was held on Wednesday last, when there was a good attendance of members, under the charge of' the Bro. A. F. Grant. Considering that this was the first meeting-to be conducted by the newly-elected officers, they performed thear various duties in a very capable manner. An invitation was accepted from Court Robin Hood to attend its next meeting at Port Chalmers. As the J. 8., Bro. H. 0. Cross, was unavoidably absent when the installation of officers took place, he was installed into his office by I.P.D.C.R. Bro. J. H. Reynolds, and returned thanks for the honour conferred upon him. The C.R. gave the toast of “The Visitors,” which was responded to by I.P.D.C.R. Bro. J. H. Reynolds on behalf of Court Little John, and P.C.R. Bro. W. Himmel, on behalf of Court Enterprise. The C.R. also gave a special welcome to Bro. S. B. Sinclair. Bros. H. W. Cockburn, C. K. Heaton, T. R. Spence, E. Craig, C. H. A. Slack. W. J. Duncan, D. S. Munro, R. S. Vercoe, A. W. Jones, S. T. D. Gaudin, H. Brown, and C. C. Robertson, delegates to the last annual district meeting, submitted their reports. The district secretary (Bro. J. K. Macfie) also gave a resume of the business transacted at that meeting, and the court closed at a late hour.

The fortnightly meeting of Court Bruce was held at the Masonic Hall, Milton, on April 4. C.R. Bro. W. Kennedy presided over a fair attendance of members. The delegates to the district, meeting at Oamam during the Easter holidays presented their reports on the business transacted, and were accorded a hearty vote of thanks. It was decided to hold an open dance next meeting night. One new member was initiated. After' the meeting closed a euchre tournament was held, in which 24 players participated. The ladies' prize was won by Mrs A. S. Roe and the men’s prize by Mr P. Gray. The fortnightly meeting of Court Little John was presided over by C.R. Bro. Helm, An invitation was accepted from Court Marion to attend a social evening at its next meeting. The delegates’ report of the district meeting was left over till next meeting. P.C.R. Bro. H. L, Thomson was heartily cpngratulated on his election as district woodward and in responding Bro. Thomson said that he- appreciated very much the honour that had been conferred upon him, and would endeavour to carry out his duties in a manner which would be satisfactory to the members and to the district. It was decided that the subject of the debate for the next meeting should be "Is Marriage Worth While.” D.W. Bro. Thomson presented the emblem and certificate of his office to P.C.R. Bro. A. Gibson, and in so doing referred to the valuable services rendered to the court by the recipient and to the very capable way he had carried out his duties. A great deal of the success attained by the court in the efficiency competition was due to Bro. Gibson. P.C.R. Bro. Gibson, in responding, spoke on- the harmony which had always existed in the court, and thanked the officers and members for the assistance given him during his term of- office. He said he would continue to give his services for the adthe court and of the Order. Court King Edward’s Pride held its fortnightly meeting on Thursday last, when C.R. Bro. W. Curry presided over a large attendance of members. The 5.8., Sis. A. Riach, tendered her resignation owing to her removal from town. Invitations were accepted from Courts Pride of the Leith and Enterprise. A transfer was granted to a member for Court Robin Hood (Port Chalmers). P.C.R.’s Bros. A. S. Dyke and P. A. Holdaway were elected as delegates to the U.F.S. Dispensary Committee. It was decided to present a trophy to the Juvenile Council for the juvenile sisters’ basket ball tournament. This trophy is to be known as the Churchill Memorial Trophy. Official visits were received from Courts Pride of Green Island, Marion, Pride of Dunedin, and Enterprise. The toast of “The Visitoi’s” was responded to by P.C.R. Bro. Mong (Court Pride of Dunedin), P.C.R. Bro. Freeman (Court Pride of Green Island), J. W. Sis. Thomson (Court Marion), and P.C.R. Bro. Breen (Court Enterprise). Sis. N. Roberts wag elected as 5.8., and was installed by Bro. A. S. Dyke. Five new members were admitted, .and following the close of the meeting the finale of the card tournament took place, the winners being Court Pride of Green Island (cribbage) and Court Pride of Dunedin (euchre). The quarterly meeting of Court Pride of Gore was held in the bandroora, Gore, recently, the C.R., Sis. Richards, presiding over a good attendance of members. There were no members on the sick list. The officers practised the initiation ceremony in view of the forthcoming competitions. The following officers were elected for the ensuing term:—C.R., Sis. .A. Porter; S.C.R., Sis. Pettigrew, The newly-elected officers were installed by P.C.R.’s Bros. Ferguson and Stevens, and the meeting then closed.
