CONCERT AT NORTH-EAST VALLEY A concert, the funds of which will be devoted to assisting the unemployed oj the North-East Valley district, was held last night in the North-East Valley Town Hall. Mr J. T. Ramsay was chairman, and there was a good attendance. The opening item was a community sing led by the chairman, after which the following programme was given:—Sean Truibhais, Misses Audrey Ramsay and Peggy Black; sword dance, Misses Audrey Ramsay and Alma Metcalfe; Highland fling, Miss Joyce Ewart; clog dance, Miss Peggy Black; dance, Master Reynolds; dance, Mies' Alma Metcalfe; songs— Master Metcalfe, Miss Lorraine Scott, Miss Burnard, Mrs Magon, and Mr J. i. Ramsay; character duets —Masters D. and W. Bardsley and Misses Irene Scott and Joyce Smith; recitations—Masters W. Metcalfe and R. Ramsay, Misses Burnard Randle, M'Cartney, and Scott; character sketch, Mr G. Mears; instrumental trio (banjo-mandolin, cornet, and piano) Messrs A. and J. T. Ramsay and Miss Olivo West; mandolin solo, Mr Noilson, banjo-mandolin duet, Messrs Neilson and Ashford; selections, Mr J. MCaws saxophone band. The accompaniments were played by Miss Olive West.

POUND-A-WEEK SCHEME The Rev. G. H. Jupp presided over a meeting of Anderson’s Bay residents held in the Presbyterian Sunday School Hall last evening in connection with the pouncl-a-week scheme. A strong committee was formed to canvass the district, and Mrs T. Somerville and Miss Lois Wilson were appointed joint secretaries. The Mayor (Mr R. S. Black) and Mrs Black were present.

GOLD-WASHING DEMONSTRATION For the gold-washing demonstration which will be held in the yard of the St. Andrew street depot to-morrow morning the Mayor has been presented by Messrs Farra Bros, with the perforated metal for a second cradle, and Messrs Love Bros arc constructing the cradle. A gold dish and a tub are now required.
