In an interview to-day with Mr Robertson, Under-secretary of the Department of Lands and chairman of the Tongaeiro National Park Board, it was stated that at Friday’s meeting of the board Mr T. A. Blyth, of Ohakunc, a member of the board, reported that he had poled a new route for Hampers along the western skpes of Mount Ruapehu which would make that side of the mountain much safer. The route extends along the tussock and scoria level from the Ohaknue hut and joins the Chateau at the mountain track at the lower scoria flat, a distance of about 11 miles. The work coot £SO, which is being paid out of the Mayor of Auckland’s Searchers’ Fund. The occupants of the plane which made a forced landing at Plimmcrton yesterday were Messrs Grosser and F. M’Donald, the latter the pilot. Neither was injured. It is expected that repairs .vill bo effected to-day, and that the machine will be flown to Wellington this afternoon CHRISTCHURCH, March 21. Unruly scenes were in evidence at the entrance to the Civic Theatre last evening when the clamorous section of a large crowd waiting to gain admission to the J. C. Williamson’s Comic Company charity concert made strenuous efforts to get past the barrier without dropping coins in the collection box. The doorkeepers, officials, and a squad of police were faced with a formidable task at one stage to prevent the entrance to '•.he stalls being rushed. Finally partial order was restored on an appeal by the Mayor.
