THE WOOL INDUSTRY

POSITION IN BRADFORD LARGE VOLUME OF ORDERS. LONDON, March 21. (Received March 21, at 11.50 p.m.) The Morning Post’s Bradford correspondent says: “The wool industry is busily engaged with a large volume of orders for semi-manufactures and cloth, but is showing reluctance to undertake further extensive commitments. One of the main reasons why now business is not replacing existing contracts is uncertainty about what import duties will follow th„ existing 50 per cent, ad valorem rates, which will expire in May. There is widespread hope that the tariff commission will announce its decision early in order to establish confidence in the future.”
