A meeting of the Middlemarch branch of the New Zealand Fanners’ Union was held on Wednesday evening last. The meetino- was presided over by Mr James Howell" and there was a good attendance of members. It was resolved to thank ali those who had been in conference with the woolbrokers and had been successful in obtaining a considerable reduction of charges. The chairman and Mr Glover were appointed to interview the postmaster with the object of having the telephone service arranged from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. It was decided that an official opening of the Deep Stream road should be held when the work was completed. The meeting was unanimous that Mrs D. Matheson, of Attadale, should be asked to declare the road open' as a mark of respect to her late husband, Mr Hoiigald Matheson, who was the pioneer mover in this project. “Huia” lib and Alb pats ire delivered fresh daily from the churn. —Advt.
