PALMERSTON NOTES
(From Our Own Correspondent.) PALMERSTON, March 19. CRICKET. Weak batting was the order of the day at Palmerston to-day when South Otago lifted the Crosby Morris Gup from Waihemo. Both sides failed dismally, Baxter, of South Otago, who scored 44, being the only batsman to get set at all. The cricket was far below county standard, and a very disappointing display was given. At Palmerston to-day the home team retained the Matheson Rose Bowl by successfully defending a challenge from Waikouaiti. Mr C. F. Arnold, headmaster of the West Spreydon, School, Christchurch, and Miss K. Scoon, assistant mistress at Lovell’s Flat, have been appointed headmaster and fourth assistant respectively at the Palmerston District High School.
