THE MURCHISON MURDER. ROWLES SENTENCED TO DEATH. PERTH, March 19. (Received March 20, at 10 p.m.) After a trial Avhich extended over 12 days “Snowy” Rowles tvas convicted of the murder of Carron, in the Murchison district, on May, 1930. He Avas sentenced to death.

Human remains were found in a camp fire near Murchison, Western Australia, and at a subsequent inquiry a unique, feature was the evidence of a New Zealand dentist, Arthur. Sims, and. a New Zealand, jeweller, Andrew Long, who travelled 5000 miles in order to help the police to establish the identity of the victim, Leslie George Brown, otherwise •Louis Carron. Sims gave evidence that Carron, under the name,of Brown, was a patient of his in 1029. Witness recognised some of the lower false teeth as similar to those he supplied. He also recognised a charred ■ natural molar with a cavity as similar to a tooth he had filled. Long gave evidence that a wedding ring found in the ashes was very similar to one he had sold to Minnie Alice Brown. Witness also stated that he was acquainted with the. manufacturer of shirts similar to that found in the camp of Bowles. The particular brand of shirts was sold only in New Zealand.
