THE SOVIET'S LATEST
REMOVAL OF HOUSE LIFTS METAL FOR INDUSTRIAL USE. LONDON, March 18. The correspondent of The Times at Riga says that the Soviet has ordered the removal of lifts from 1600 houses, and is melting the metal therein for industrial use. Four hundred houses of more than four storeys will still have lifts, but they must not be used. Only about 10 lifts in privileged establishments will be allowed to be worked.
