The official opening Belleknowes Club took place on Saturday afternoon under perfect conditions, when about 00 members took part in Mixed Foursomes. The president (Mr C. Russell Smith), in addressing those present, spoke of the time when the club had only 20 members, who had a very rough course on which to play, and when it was an easy matter to lose three or four balls in an afternoon. Time, however, had changed the order of things, until to-day they had an ideal nine-hole course on which the club’s 200 members could play. After a photograph had been taken, the president declared the season open by driving the first ball, amidst applause. The competition played during the afternoon resulted in a tie between Miss V. Swan and Mr Rcwi Taylor and Mrs Bennie and Mr A. M'Millan, with 82 —25 —57 and 81—24—57 respectively. Several other very good cards were also handed in.
