TROTTING

By Sentinel.

Acceptances for the Addington trotting meeting are due to-morrow.

Country King and Wilma Dillon were responsible for a solid two-mile work-out at Addington last week. Golden Pedro and Free Advice are both reported to be travelling well in their work on the Addington track. Jewel Pointer, Warplane, and Benefice were put together in a two-mile task at Addington last week. They went a mile in 2min 18sec and finished in close order in 4rnin 29 4-ssec, the last half being covered in Imin 6sec. The sales of light-harness stock taking place in Canterbury this week and the week following will absorb a considerable amount of money if there are any buyers about, and for that reason the sale of Mr G. J. Barton’s team has not been finally fixed. The Forbury Park Trotting Club’s programme for May 5 and 7 has a prize list ranging from lOOsovs to 275eovs. The principal events have a stake of 275sovs for a 4.32 class.

The pacer Symmetry has gone into E. 0. M’Dermott’s stable, having been leased by the Addington trainer. Symmetry is by Great Audubon from Sympathy and is a half-sister to Hinkler, who raced so well for W. J. Torakinson and subsequently went to Australia, where he won several races. A race that will attract a great deal of attention at the Metropolitan Trotting Club’s meeting is the Flying Handicap, a 2rnin 43sec mile and a-quarter. There is a nomination of 16, which includes nearly all the best sprinters now in commission. Travis Axworthy, who has not raced for some time owing to stud duties, is on 12yds, and the champion, Harold Logan, is on 48yds. It is one of the most “classy” lists of nominations that has been received for . a long time and promises to produce a great contest. With the approach of the Easter meeting at, Addington interest in the track work is being aroused. Amongst the horses getting through solid tasks at Addington last week were Brentlight, Dark M‘Kinney, Real Girl, Rare Pronto, Impromptu, Royal Silk, Baron Bingen, Wilbur White. Nimble Direct, Steel All, Aleron, Great Logan; Surprise Journey, Wrecker, Boneta, Ukalele Lady, Princess Mauritius, and Riocole.

It is understood that Manoeuvre met with bad luck in the running of the Wyndham Handicap. After she had been slowly away (says an exchange) she was lying in fourth place at the end of a mile, behind Llewellyn and Sunbell on terms, and Erin’s Advance and Llewellyn led into the final straight, only to tire badly, and ns a result. Manoeuvre was blocked, and Erin’s Advance, who held a clear run, beat her by three lengths.
