Mr Charles Todd left foir Wellington by the express yesterday mocrning. Mr S. C. Sutherland was a passenger for Wellington by yesterday’s express. Mr G. Wilson, of Auckland, who has been visiting Dunedin on business, left on his return for the north *by the express yesterday morning. Mr Dundas Samuel, A.0.5.M., left yesterday for the Malay Stages to take up his position with the Pahang Consolidated Tin Mine. A Press Association cabEe message from Sydney states that Mr T. R. A suitable gift was also presented to him for the bride. Archbishop Redwood, Metropolitan of the Roman Catholic Church in New Zealand, arrived in Dunedin hast evening by the express from the norfli. He was met at the station by Bishop Whyte. Archbishop Redwood was consecrated a bishop at St. Ann’s, London, on March 17, 1874. He will lay the foundation stone of the new Mosgiel Seminary to-mor-row. Mr R. Kinnaird, of Earnsoleugh, has been selected by the New Zealand Fruitgrowers’ Federation Board directors to fill the vacancy caused by the 'retirement of Mr H. Turner, who will leave Dunedin on Monday for England. Mr Kinnaird, who will act as the Fruitgrowers’ Federation’s Otago director, is a prominent fruitgrower, and has taken a keen' interest in the organisation of the fruit industry in the Dominion. It is understood that at the special meeting of the Otago Harbour Board held on Thursday night to consider the board’s financial position and possible economies it was decided that Mr W. J. Bardsley, the secretary and treasurer, be retired on superannuation as from April 20 next, when his 12 months’ leave of absence will expire.
