GIFT FROM THE QUEEN
CITY OF PERTH RELIC PURCHASE IN LONDON. LONDON, March 7. While the Queen was indulging in her hobby of examining antiques she found in the West End a workbox made frojn a tree which Sir James Stirling felled in 1829 while clearing the site of the City of Perth, Western Australia. It bears an inscription on a brass plate. Her Majesty purchased the box and sent it to Sir Granville Ryrie, who transferred it to the Agent-general for Western Australia, Mr W. C. Angwin, conveying her Majesty’s suggestion that it should go to the Perth Museum. The box has been shipped by the Raranga, and Mr Angwin has written thanking the Queen for the gift.
