The Kaimal Is duo at Dunedin this morning from Bluff to load for Lyttelton and Wellington. The Federal Line steamer Kent, which Is completing Homeward loading at Auckland. Is scheduled to leave the northern port on Tuesday for London, via Cape Horn, Dakar, and Montevideo. The Port Hunter was due at Wellington yesterday morning from Wanganui, and will sail on Tuesday, earlier than was previously expected, for Halifax and London, via Panama. ZEALANDIC TO LOAD. The Shaw, Savill Company’s motor ship Zealandlc arrived at Port Chalmers last evening from Wellington to continue Homeward loading. She will sail on March 22 lor Bluff to complete loading, and is scheduled to clear the southern port on March 29 for London, via Cape Horn and Las Palmas. TANKER NEW ZEALAND. The Norwegian tanker Now Zealand arrived at Dunedin yesterday from Los Angeles, via northern ports, and was berthed at the Victoria wharf to discharge a part cargo of bulk motor spirit into the Texas Oil Company’s tanks. The vessel Is to sail to-day for Melbourne to complete discharge. AUXILIARY SCHOONER HUJA. Messrs Dalgety and Co. advise that the auxiliary schooner Huia Is due at Port Chalmers about March 24 from Auckland. After discharging explosives she will come to Dunedin to load general cargo, and will sail about the end of next week for Lyttelton and Auckland. lONIC LEAVES BALBOA. The lonic, en route from Southampton, left Balboa on March 15 for Auckland, where she is due on April 5. KARTIGI FROM NEWCASTLE. The Union Company’s steamer Kartlgl arrived in the Lower Harbour yesterday morning from Newcastle, and, after undergoing medical inspection, came to Dunedin to discharge a quantity of coal. The vessel encountered strong southerly weather during the last two day’s of the voyage, and her arrival was delayed by several hours. The Kartlgl sailed last night for Oamaru, Tlmaru, and Lyttelton to complete discharge.

IDLE TONNAGE IN BRITAIN. The quarterly statistics of Idle tonnage published by the Chamber of Shipping at the end of January reveal a slightly more encouraging state of affairs than has been apparent for the past six months. The total of lald-up shipping in Britain on January X this year was 728 vessels of 1,966,4X7 tons net, compared with 778 of 2,089,443 tons on October I, 1931, a decline of over 123,000 tons, or 5.9 per cent. The figures are also lower than those for July 1 last year (752 of 2,044,092 tons), but they are still higher than those recorded on April 1 (778 of 1,919,786 tons) and January 1, 1931 (665 of 1,593,247 tons). The January figures Include 10 foreign vessels of 20,340 tons, and 60 British tankers of 232,603 tons, 17 of the latter, aggregating 70,769 tons, being motor ships.
