TRACK WORK OF CANDIDATES. (United Press Association.; (By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) AGUA CALIENTE, March 17. The three leading candidates worked on a fast track to-day. Phar Lap went six furlongs in Imin 20sec, Spanish Plady did a mile in Imin 43sec easily, and Marine covered nine furlongs in 2min 10 2-ssee. PHAR LAP FAVOURITE. (United Press Association.) (By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) AGUA CALIENTE, March 17. (Received March 18, at 9 pan.) Six of the most prominent horses entered for the handicap on Sunday worked out against time on Thursday. Phar Lap ran six furlongs easily in Imin 20sec, his performance firmly entrenching him in the favourite’s position. Those in charge of Phar Lap’s training say he has been put through a more strenuous period of preparation for this handicap than for any of his races in Australia.
