SWIMMING
RECORD BROKEN AT WESTPORT. (Per United Press Association.) WESTPORT, February 25. At the swimming carnival to-night G. M'Conville (Canterbury) in an unofficial attempt on the New Zealand 50 Yards record of 26 3-ssec, swam the distance in 20 l-ssec. In the 100 Yards Junior Girls, Joan Walls, of Westport, swam 74 3-ssec, which beats the New Zealand record by 2-sscc.
Charlie Chaplin lias worn the same moustache in pictures for 15 years. During the making of his last film, “ Citv Lights,” the moustache was thrown out by" a visitor to ids studio, who mistook it for a valueless piece of make-up. It was recovered.
