BOXING
OXLEY-SIMONSEN CONTEST. (Per United Press Association.) NELSON, February 25. It appears that the report that Constable Lake stopped the professional boxing contest at Takaka between Ted Oxley and Jim Simonsen is not strictly correct. From statements made by various parties it appears that the constable was making inquiries as to the extent of Simonsen’o injuries consisting of a cut over the eye. This was resented by Simonson’s second, who ended the arguments by throwing in the towel. The general opinion is that the fight would have gone the full distance, with Oxley as the winner on points.
