RIOTING IN BRISTOL

SIX THOUSAND UNEMPLOYED SERIOUS CLASH WITH POLICE. LONDON, February 24. Six thousand unemployed at Bristol, incited by Communist speakers, clashed with the police. There were over 30 casualties. Several of the police were injured. The crowd marched towards the Council Chambers with red flags, and the police attempted to divert the procession, but were overwhelmed and forced to use their batons. Fierce fighting developed. Reinforcements of mounted police arrived and scattered the crowd. The rioters rallied, and in two hours’ fighting 30 were injured. Photographs show the police charging with upraised batons, several of the demonstrators being felled. In London these pictures caused 3000 men to make an attempt to reach Parliament House,, but the House was strongly guarded, and mounted police dispersed the mob. Some who attempted to destroy the flags on the Cenotaph were prevented by a police charge.
