QUEENSLAND BEATS JAPAN M'GRATH IN FINE FORM. (United Press Association.) (By Electric Telegraph—Copyright!) BRISBANE, February 24. Queensland defeated Japan by five rubbers to three. M'Grath, playing for the northern State, defeated Nunoi, I—6,1 —6, G— 2, 6 —3, and Harada, 3—6, 6—4, 6 —2. In the latter match he played faultlessly. NEW SOUTH WALES LADIES. DELIGHTED WITH TOUR. SYDNEY, February 24. The members of the Australian women’s lawn tennis team have returned from New Zealand. They are enthusiastic about the tour arrangements. Miss Hartigan said the programme was so well organised that they had plenty of rests between the fixtures. The others are loud in their praises of the New Zealand people’s hospitality. AUSTRALIAN DAVIS CUP TEAM. MR J. CLEMENGER AS MANAGER. MELBOURNE, February 24. Mr J. Clemenger will act as captain and manager of the Australian team which will compete in the American none and will meet Cuba in the first round. The association decided to contribute £l5O towards the expense of Mrs Crawford making the trip.
