LYRIC CLUB CHOIR

ANNUAL MEETING In presenting the annual report and balance sheet at the annual meeting of the Lyric Club Choir the president (Mr John Leech) read to the members an account of their efforts during the year. The objects of the club, it was stated, were to obtain proficiency in the performance of sacred and secular music, and to give and take part in concerts agreed upon by the committee. To this end soloists had rendered service to almost every church in Dunedin and suburbs. In addition, kindred musical societies, clubs, and bands had also assisted. The choir, as a whole, had in addition to producing the “ Bohemian Girl ” in the Town Hall, broadcast “Maritana,” the “Bohemian Girl,” and “The Song of Mirian ” from 4YA. Congratulations were expressed to members who gained diplomas and scholarships during the year. The financial statement showed the club to be in a flourishing condition. The profits from the “ Bohemian Girl ” and other sources were very satisfactory. The dab does not enlist support from subscribers, and is entirely self-supporting, but year by year, giving its service to the public free of charge as it does, it shows an increase financially and in membership. The following officers were elected:— President, Mr John Leech; vice-presi-dents—Miss Ruby Baxter, Mrs J. T. Leech, Messrs L. H. Stubbs, P. Mortley Peake, T. D. White, James Swan, D. M'Neil, A. Chisholm, F. J, Ferguson; secretary, Mr J. D. Samuel; treasurer, Mrs J. T. Leech; librarians, Messrs R. Duncan and Howie Andrew; committee —Misses Maude Kenward, Helen Roy, Messrs L. H. Stubbs, W. Ruffell; conductor, Mr John T. Leech; deputy' conductor, Mr F. Mortley Peake; accompanist, Miss Muriel Caddie.
