ST. CLAIR v. SUMNER A life-saving match between the St. Clair Club and the Sumner Club (Christchurch) took place at St. Clair yesterday, and resulted in a win for the visitors. The' teams were as follow; — Sumner. —O. Wood (support). L. Sutherland (beltman), N. MThail (second linesman), K. Lowry (reelman), 1). Richardson (third linesman) , J. Frengloy (first linesman), S. The St. Clair No. 2 team took the water first, and was unfortunate in not knowing the strength of the rip. Both the beltman and support had great difficulty with the surf, and the beltman was carried well out of his course. The Sumner team followed, and both support and beltman had a strenuous task to reach their man. Their .water worn and land drill, were good. St. Clair No. 1 followed, and also had a strenuous swim, but tbe support _ (S. Fogg) put up a great effort, and gained fastest time. The beltman also suffered from the effect of the current. The land work was fine. t Result; — Sumner (103 points) .. .. 1 St, Clair No. 1 (95 points) .. 2 St! Clair No. 2 (45 points) .. 3
