The vessel has a: full cargo of raw sugar, which will be unloaded at Chelsea. i-" The motor ship Forthbank left Shanghai on December 25 for Nauru to load phosphates for Australia or New Zealand. The Texas Oil Company have chartered the new Norwegian tanker South Africa, a sister ship to the New Zealand. The South Africa is a vessel of 9234 tons register, and Is expected to leave Los Angeles early this month for Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne. Adelaide, and Fremantle. The Government lighthouse steamer Matal is to leave Wellington bn Monday for a tour of Inspection of the southern lighthouses. The Federal Company advises that the Hertford was to leave Auckland yesterday for Napier, to continue her Homeward loading. She Is -due at Wellington on January 20, to complete, and Is scheduled to clear that port finally on January 22 for London, Avonmouth, Liverpool,, and Glasgow, via the Panama canal. EARAMEA FROM LONDON. The Shaw, Savlll Company’s motor ship Karamea, from London, arrived; at Suva on Wednesday morning. She was to leave the island port on Thursday for Port Chalmers, ‘where she is due on January 19. THE PORT MELBOURNE. The Port Melbourne, which is 'to load at New Zealand ports for London, left Newcastle on Tuesday for Bluff,- where she is due tomorrow. The vessel is expected at Port Chalmers about January 20 to continue loading. ■’ THE CITY OF DUNKIRK. The A. and A. Line’s chartered steamer City of Dunkirk was due at Wellington yesterday from Auckland to continue unloading cargo from New York and Gulf of Mexico ports. She will complete discharge at Lyttelton, Dunedin, and Australian ports. CANADIAN SCOTTISH TO LOAD. The Canadian National steamer Canadian Scottish arrived at Auckland on Wednesday from Buenos Aires. The vessel, which was in ballast, will load for New York, Boston, and Halifax at Auckland, Napier, Wellington, Dunedin, and Lyttelton. She Is scheduled to leave Lyttelton for New York on January 23. WAIKOUAITI FROM AUSTRALIA. The Union Company advises that the Walkouaitl was to leave Sydney at noon yesterday with general cargo for discharge at Bluff, Dunedin, Lyttelton, and Tlmaru. She Is due at this port on January 21. NAVAL VESSEL WAKAKURA. The naval training vessel Wakakura returned to Dunedin yesterday afternoon from Akaroa with a draft of ratings of the Otago Division, Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve,, who had completed a week’s training fn gun drill and general seamanship. The Wakakura will sail this afternoon with the second draft for Akaroa, where the men will undergo training for six days. PORT CAROLINE’S -ITINERARY. , The Port Caroline left Melbourne on Tuesday for Gisborne, where she Is to commence the Homeward loading- programme on Monday, a week earlier than previously scheduled. She will leave Auckland finally on February 13 for London. ,

To continue 5 discharge of her cargo from Glasgow and Liverpool, to the agency of the Federal Company, the New Zealand Shipping Company’s motor ship Opawa arrived at Wellington on Thursday. The Opawa Is to leave Wellington on' Monday for Lyttelton, Dunedin, and Tlmaru, to complete discharge. NORTHUMBERLAND LEAVES COLON. Cable advice has been received by the New Zealand Shipping Company that the Federal steamer Northumberlaand left Colon on January 8. She sailed from Napier on December 21 for London, Avonmouth, Liverpool, and Glasgow. _ PORT GISBORNE CARRYING MAILS. The Commonwealth and Dominion Line motor ship Port Gisborne, which loft London on December 19 for Sydney, via ports, Is carrying the English malls which are due at Fremantle on January 19.. After discharging her inward .cargo, the Port Gisborne will be loaded for London. On the Homeward voyage she will again act as a mall liner, and will leave Fremantle on February 22 with the Australian mails for London, and should arrive there on March 24. PASSENGERS ON ORONSAY. RANGITIKI FROM SOUTHAMPTON. The New Zealand Shipping Company’s motor liner Rangltlkl was to leave Southampton yesterday for Wellington and Auckland. She is due at Wellington on February 18. AORANGI’S LARGE PASSENGER LIST. An exceptionally largo number of passengers landed from the Aorangl when she arrived at Auckland from Sydney on Monday. Her passengers totalled 282, the largest number that has been carried across the Tasman on a single vessel since Christmas, 1930, and of that number 220 landed at Auckland. The arrivals included a largo percentage of business men from overseas anxious to investigate New Zealand -conditions with a view to extension of trade. There were also a large number of overseas tourists. PASSENGERS FOR ENGLAND. The Now Zealand Shipping Company’s liner Rotorua, which left Wellington on Wednesday for London, via the Panama canal. Two large cargoes of phosphates were loaded at Nauru Island during December by the Bank Line motor ship Glenbank, which arrived at Auckland on Saturday afternoon. Both cargoes were for Auckland The first cargo was loaded on December 1 and December 2, and the vessel reached, Auckland on December 12. After unloading the cargo of 8300 tons, she sailed on December 19 on her return trip to bmnru Island, which was reached on December 28. The vessel's present cargo of 8250 tons was loaded on December 29 and December 30, and she left for Auckland as soon as loading operations were completed. During the nine months that the Glenbank has been chartered for the work she has loaded about 58,000 tons for Australia and New Zealand.
