President Hoover recently signed a commission appointing Chili Fish, a Seminole Indian, as principal chief of the Seminole nation in Oklahoma for one day. Some tribal matters were pending, such as executing of deeds transferring lands and other business, which, under the law, must be disposed of by the principal chief. Action on these items would take only one day. Chili Fish’s day of office was to have been on or before June 1, and his reward, besides an engraved commission from President Hoover, will be 10 dollars’ and expenses, not to exceed 5 dollars.
