LAWN TENNIS

AUSTRALIAN LADIES* TEAM (Per United Press Association.) INVERCARGILL, January 14. Further rain this morning prevented the concluding games in the lawn tennis match between the New South Wales ladies’ team and a South Island team being played. The visitors left this afternoon for Dunedin. MATCHES IN DUNEDIN. The lawn tennis public of Dunedin has been looking forward with keen interest to the visit of the Australians, who are to take part to-day in a match against the four leading women players of Dunedin. The visitors are skilful exponents of the game, hitting out freely and with great accuracy, and imparting a f full measure of variety to their play. Their matches against the Dunedin players should be full of sparkle, and they will also afford an interesting basis of comparison. On Saturday exhibition games will be played, in which the visitors will participate, as well as Mrs W. A. Scott (Timaru) and Miss M. Wake (Canterbury).
