SUMMER SCHOOL

METHODIST BIBLE CLASSES Last Wednesday evening, at the School for the Deaf (Sumner), the South Island Sumner School of the Methodist Bible class movements was commenced. 90 delegates were welcomed by the camp hostess (Mrs Harvey Cook), and an address introducing the theme of study was given by the Rev. G. O. Hailwood (camp chairman). Other officers were: The Rev. E. W. Hames (leader of the Leaders Circle) and the Rev. E. P. Blamires (camp father). The series of morning studies was entitled “ New Life, and on Thursday morning the study circles discussed the topic “ The Historical Resurrection.” Dr J. D. Salmond later addressed the members, taking for his subject, “ Adolescent Unfolding.” This Interesting address provoked much thought and discussion, and Dr Salmond’s observations, while on his recent tour abroad, gave added value. Ideal weather conditions permitted the enjoyment of lawn tennis and bathing during the recreation period in the afternoon. The evening topic, “ Class Problems, was introduced by the Rev. B. R. Hames, a very profitable discussion resulting.
