Mr J. H. Duncan, manager of Messrs H. L. Tapley and Co., left Dunedin yesterday morning on a business visit to Wellington. Mr G. Judsou, of Temuka, is at present staying with his son, Mr J. Judson, at St. Hilda. The Chief Justice, Sir Michael Myers, arrived in Dunedin by the express from the north yesterday afternoon. He will remain here until Thursday, when he will leave for Wellington. Mr H. Coombes. of the local staff of the Bank of New Zealand, who has been transferred to Suva, went north yesterday morning en route to his new appointment. The Board of Directors of the National Bank of Australasia, Ltd., Melbourne, announces the resignation as a director of the bank of Mr J. Newman Barker, acting upon medical advice. Mr Barker has been a director of the bank for the past 19 years, during four years and a-half of which he filled the position of vice-chair-man.
# A Press Association telegram from Wellington states that last night’s Gazette announces the appointment of Mr James Begg to be representative of the producers of meat for export on the New Zealand Meat Producers’ Board, vice Mr Adam Hamilton, resigned. The appointment is also gazetted of Mr Ralph Paynter as representative of the New Zealand Government on the New Zealand Fruit Export Control Board, vice Mr Edward Heathcote Williams, deceased.
Captain Fischer Burges Watson, D. 5.0., the new commodore of the New Zealand Naval Division, is due to arrive at Wellington by the Rimutaka on April 14. He was a well-known English athlete, and has represented the Navy and England at Rugby football. The second naval member, Captain Sinclair Thomson, is due to reach New Zealand by the Rangitiki on February 18.
