TENDERS. RAPIER BOROUGH COUNCIL. BUILDING LEASE BY TENDER OF HOTEL SITE AND LICENSE, IN NAPIER. 1. The NAPIER BOROUGH COUNCIL invites TENDERS up till 4 p.m. on FRIDAY, the 22nd day of January, 1932, for the LEASE of an HOTEL SITE, occupied prior to the Earthquake qu the 3rd day of February last by the Criterion Hotel and Shops on the ground floor, which were completely destroyed by the fire following the Earthquake. 2. The site is in the heart of the business area of Napier, and is bounded on three ■ sides by public streets. The Criterion . Hotel was one of Napier’s leading hotels, j carrying on a large bar trade, and the j shops on the ground floor, being in the j busiest portion of Napier, produced a large revenue in rents. 3. The successful tenderer shall, within one year of the acceptance of the tender, erect on the site a building comprising an hotel and shops, and the lease will be granted upon the successful tenderer erecting the said building. 4. The Lease shall be for a term of twenty-one years, commencing at the expiration of one year from the date of acceptance of the tender, or, if the hotel building be erected earlier, then from such earlier date, and shall contain per- ! petual rights of renewal for successive | terms of twenty-one years each, the rent i for each successive term to be decided by | valuation. i 5. Tenders are to be made at the annual rent which the tenderer offers to pay for the first twenty-one years for the lease of the above-mentioned site, together with the right to the Publican’s License an- j nexed thereto. 6. Each Tender must be accompanied by a banker’s cheque or cash for three months’ rent at the rate tendered. 7. The highest or any tender will not necessarily be accepted. 8. Tenders must be on forms supplied. 9. Particulars and conditions of leasing may be inspected, and forms of tender may be obtained at the undermentioned places:— The Town Clerk’s Office, Napier. New Zealand Herald, Auckland. Dominion Office, Wellington. Evening Post Office, Wellington. Christchurch Times Office, Christchurch. Otago Daily Times Office, Dunedin.
