A lost city,' dating from 3000 n.C., rcently discovered by accident, was referred to bv Sir Edward A. Gait, chairman of the Royal Society of Arts, in his inaugural address to the society in London a few weeks ago. Si r Edward said that Mr R. D. Banerji, of the Government of India archaeological department, was exploring a .Buddhist stupatower erected to contain a shrine —in the Lower Indus'. Valley,, and found it was built on the site of an oldci settlement. A thorough-exploration under Sir John Marshall,. Director-General of Archteology, revealed the remains of an extensive city. “ They include well-built houses with their own wells and bathrooms, brick flooring and covered drains, betokening a civilisation dating from about 3000 b.c.,” Sir Edward declared.
