BOOKMAKER FINED
PENALTY OF £IOO IMPOSED (Per United Press . Association ) AUCKLAND, December 30. Following a raid by detectives, Thomas Currau, aged 54, a tobacconist, of Hobson street, appeared before Mr E. U. Cutten, S.M., in the Police Court to-day charged with using his premises as a common gaming house. He pleaded guilty and was fined £IOO. • . “The last time Curran was here m October, 1030, he was fined £100,” said Detective-sergeant Kelly. ‘‘This is ms fourth conviction. Bookmakingis his profession.” r “ I have no option but to fine you £100,” said Mr Cutten.
