A plea tliat all builders of new houses or flats in Home should provide them with bomb-proof shelters for protection in time of war is made by the Giornale d’ltalia. The newspaper urges that these bombproof shelters should be built in accordance with plans approved.by the military and aerial defence authorities. Rome has little underground shelter for use in case of aerial attack, having no underground railways. A tunnel, which runs under the Qiiirinal (Royal Palace) has room for 4000 persons, and is the largest underground shelter in Rome.
