PRIMARY SCHOOLS’ TOURNAMENT The South Island primary schools’ Association football tournament was continued at Logan Park yesterday. In the bantam games both matches ended in a draw, there being no score in either case. The senior game Otago B v. Westland was also drawn, each team scoring two goals, but in the other senior match Otago A defeated Canterbury by two goals to one. The following are the results of yesterday’s play:— BANTAMS. OTAGO B v. WESTLAND. The game Otago B v. Westland was played at 10 a.m. The following were the teams: — Westland. —Campbell, Rogers, Hoggatli, Laing, King, Airey, Roberts, MTlugb. Jenkinson, Pike, Hatch. ■ Otago.—Pratt, Mills, Henderson, Boyd, Lamond, Gregory, Smythe, Kidd, Turnbull, Anderson, Bremner. , , Play was fairly even. Westland had the better combination, but the team was bunching too much. Half time came with no score. Otago attacked from the whistle in the second spell, and from a free kick Kidd struck the cross-bar. ■Both sides attacked, strongly, Westland spoiling a great change by off-side play. Otago attacked strenuously towards the finish, but could not score, the game ending in a draw: Otago B Nil. Westland . Nil. Mr James was the referee. OTAGO A v. CANTERBURY. The Otago A and Canterbury teams met at IP a.m. The teams were as follow: Otago.—Paul, Houghton, Harness, Ryan, Simpson, Henderson, Moir, Matimer, Boyd, Harris, Andrews. Canterbury.—M'Fall, Harris, Bell, Sutherland, Dempsey, O’Brien, O’Rowe, Wilkins, M'Grath, Smith, Smith. Play was very fast, Canterbury showing the better combination, but Otago was defending well. Paul, the Otago goalie, wag saving brilliantly. Canterbury did the greater part of the attacking, but Otago’s defence held, and half time came with no ecore. Otago attacked at the opening of the second spell, but play soon returned to the other end, Canterbury pressing all the time. A good chance was spoilt by offside play. Otago was very seldom on attack, and the game, in which Canterbury bad all the advantage, ended in a draw. Paul, in the Otago goal, was absolutely brilliant. Otago A .... Otago B met Westland at 2 p.m.._ Westland from the start showed very fair combination, but Otago’s bustling tactics were upsetting them. Finally, from brisk forward passing, Frickleton scored, and a minute later scored agaiii. Otago returned play, and from a corner Topping scored. Play was then even till half time. Otago kept bustling the opposition in the second spell, but the forwards missed several pod chances. Finally the Westland goalkeeper gave steps, and from the free kick touched the ball before it went through. Time was called shortly afterwards, with the scores: Westland 2 goals. Otago B 2 goals. Mr Faithful was the referee. OTAGO A v. CANTERBURY. The following teams represented Otago A and Canterbury in the 3 o'clock game: Otago.—Douglas, Clarke, Porteoue, Milburn, Greenwood, M'Lean. Syme. Rodgers, Wight, Sutherland, Smith. Canterbury.—Scott, Fleming, Keyes, Brown, M'Grath, Acourt, Madden, Syme, Chappell, Snmmerfield, M'Kenzic. Canterbury attacked, but Otago drove them back, and within a few minutes Rodgers had scored. Play was then very even till Canterbury were penalised for

steps, but M'Lean shot over. Canterbury set up a hot attack, and. finally Chappell scored. Both sides set up hot attacks, and Rodgers was tripped in the penalty area, but put the kick over aie bar. In the second spell Canterbury were unlucky not to score within the first few minutes, and were holding Otago well. \iter 20 minutes’ play Syme centred to Rodgers, to Wight, who scored. The game ended shortly afterwards with the scores: Otago A.. .. 2 goals. Canterbury 1 goal. Mr M'Lennan was the referee.
