AIM OF THE LEADERS SECESSION FROM THE EMPIRE (United Press Association.) (By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) : CALCUTTA, August 8. (Received August 9, at 8 p.m.) The leaders of the European groups in the Legislative Assembly and the Bengal Legislative Council sent 'cable messages to Mr Ramsay .MacDonald, Mr Stanley Baldwin, and Mr Lloyd George stating that the declared policy of certain Congress leaders is to force the Round Table Conference to agree to secession from the Empire under a threat of terrorism, and declaring that the Congress has been working in the interval since the Delhi agreement was reached to intensify the hatred of Europeans. The messages ask the British leaders to consider the formation of a National Government to control the de'stinies of India during the period of transition. . ; NATIONAL FLAG CHOSEN. CALCUTTA, August 8. (Received August 9, at 8 p.m.) The Congress Committee at Bombay chose d national flag for India. It is composed of saffron, to represent courage and sacrifice; white, for peace and truth; and green for faith and chivalry: with a charka or spinning wheel in the centre as representing the hope of the masses.
