EARTHQUAKE RECORDED
PROBABLY IN PACIFIC BED. SYDNEY, August 8. Father Cleary, of the Riveryiew Observatory, expresses the opinion that the earthquake which was recorded on Friday was in the direction of New Zealand, probably in the bed of the Pacific beyond the dominion. RECORDED AT WEST BROMWICH. LONDON, August 7. The West seismograph recorded a severe earthquake, probably between New Guinea and Fiji.
