V CHRISTCHURCH, August 8., The New Zealand Metropolitan Trotting Club’s August meeting was opened in fine weather, with a cold east wind. The course was 1 in good order and the attendance was up to the standard of recent meetings. The totalisator investments were £20,278 10s, compared with £23,421 last year. Results: — INTRODUCTORY HANDICAP, Of SOOsovs. One mile and a-half. 9J. Gemlight led into the straight from Repute, Boneta, Lady Fan, and Nelson Boy, and won easily by five lengths from Boneta. Repute was three lengths away, and Nelson Boy was fourth. With half a mile covered, the leaders were Herod, Checkers, Priceless, Aristotle, and Bracken. Priceless followed Herod into the straight, with Bracken and Aristotle next. With six furlongs to eover, Pluto was clear of Neeoro, Regal Voyage, and Glen rossie. Regal Voyage led into the straight from Pluto, Neeoro, Glenrossie, Dundas Boy, and Mountain Dell. In the run home Regal Voyage won by a length and a-half from Glenrossie. Neeoro was three lengths away, and Dundas Boy was a length back fourth. Mountain Dell was fifth. John Jinks went to the front two furlongs from home, but Ayrmont Chimes finished better and won by two lengths. Netta Oro was five lengths away, and Brentlight was fourth.
