V CHRISTCHURCH, August 8., The New Zealand Metropolitan Trotting Club’s August meeting was opened in fine weather, with a cold east wind. The course was 1 in good order and the attendance was up to the standard of recent meetings. The totalisator investments were £20,278 10s, compared with £23,421 last year. Gemlight led into the straight from Repute, Boneta, Lady Fan, and Nelson Boy, and won easily by five lengths from Boneta. Repute was three lengths away, and Nelson Boy was fourth.
