TAPANUI NOTES

(From Our Own Correspondent.) TAPANUI, July 13. TAPANUI POULTRY AND PRODUCE CLUB. The annual show of the Tapanui Poultry and Produce Club was held in the Town Hall on Saturday, and was in every respect a very successful effort. The outstanding section was the garden produce, and the judge (Mr C. Burrows, Gore) said the quality of the exhibits was outstanding, and in many cases the competitor gaining highly commended certificate was worthy of a first prize. The roots also made an excellent display, and Messrs Ferguson and Black had considerable difficulty in making their awards. The competition in seeds and fruit was not keen. The poultry section, which was judged by Mr Tracey King, of Riverton, hardly came up to the standard of previous years, and there were fewer competitors from a distance as compared with former years. A sheep-guessing .Competition was held during the evening; Messrs A. MTntyre and W. Pringle guessed the exact weight, 611 b, and divided first and second prizes. PRIZE LIST. POULTRY.
