RIOTS AND LOOTING
GERMAN UNEMPLOYED CLASHES WITH THE POLICE (United Press Association.) (By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) LONDON, June 14. The Berlin correspondent of the Daily Express says : Hunger riots and looting by the unemployed have occurred in several cities during the past few days. Clashes with the police were responsible for five persons being killed and forty wounded. It is reported that Ruhr industrialists are planning a coup d’etat with the aid of 150,000 Steel Helmets, with the object of establishing Dr Schacht (ex-President of the Reichsbank) as dictator of Germany.” Another message states that President Hindenburg has granted Dr Bruening the fullest powers to cope with the threatened political crisis, including the dissolution of the Reichstag.
