SURGERY ON THE SCREEN
FILM FOR DOCTORS AND NURSES A new and striking use to which the motion picture film has been put will be demonstrated for the benefit of doctors, nurses, and students at the Princess Theatre this evening at 5 o’clock, when the< Western Electric Corporation will screen two films dealing with practical surgery. These pictures are the work of two eminent American surgeons, Dr P. E. Truesdale, of the Earle P. Charlton Surgery;, and chief surgeon of the Truesdale Sanatorium, and Dr Joseph B. de Lee, founder and medical director of the Chicago Lying-in Hospital. Both productions represent a new era in instructional surgery, and should not be missed by interested persons. Admission is restricted to members of the medical and nursing professions and students, and while no charge will be made it is requested that all who attend should sign the register. • The films, the screening of which will occupy about an hour and 20 minutes, were originally intended for exhibition at the British Medical Association Conference in Gisborne, but could not be shown in consequence of the abandonment of the conference as a result of the earthquake. Every detail of some of the most intricate surgical work demanded of the profession is presented in the most strikingly arrests ing manner, while amply informative preludes precede each of the main scenes. Customary methods of carrying out such operations as abdominal deliveries are demonstrated, and particular attention is paid to the expedients that are adopted in the case of complications. The films will be screened to-night and to-morrow, night between the hours of 5 and 6.20. ;
