NEW FRENCH PRESIDENT
INSTALLED IN OFFICE ? A SIMPLE CEREMONY. PARIS, June 14. M. Dounier took office to-day. There was a simple ceremony at the Elysee, where the retiring President (M. Doumergue) awaited him. M. Doumer placed across his chest the broad red *ash of the Grand Master of the Legion of Honour, which is the only outward •ign of office borne by the President. M. Laval formally tendered the Government’s resignation, and accepted the new President’s request to continue in i office, thus inaugurating the second Laval Cabinet, which observers believe will survive until the recess, thus ensuring stability until November.
