John James Brennan, aged 36, was fined £4O, in default three months’ imprisonment, on a charge of bookmaking. WELLINGTON, June 13. The waterside workers refused to work this afternoon on the Homo liners Port Huon and,-Port Fairy, owing to a disagreement over wages. The vessels were, being worked during the morning, and the two ships mentioned are the only ones that required to be worked in the afternoon. CHRISTCHURCH, June 13. Six months’ imprisonment with hard labour was imposed on Albert Wilmot, aged 21 years, in the Magistrate’s Court to-day on a charge that on June 5 he was deemed to bo a rogue and vagabond, having been found by night in the enclosed yard of the Bou Brush Company. The accused, an Englishman, had already served terms in Australia, and the magistrate remarked that he was not the type of man wanted in New Zealand.
