THE AFFABLE STRANGER
NEW ZEALANDER A VICTIM STORY OF THEATRICAL VENTURE. SYDNEY, Juno 13. A New Zealander who recently travelled from Wellington to Sydney met an affable stranger aboard, who conversed about the big profits of his theatrical venture in Singapore. He induced the New Zealander to accept a partnership for £3OO. Upon reaching Sydney the New Zealander handed over £2OO in New Zealand notes to be changed into gold. The stranger disappeared altogether with the money. Detectives arrested a man at Newtown and at the same time seized £135 in New Zealand notes.
