He induced the New Zealander to accept a partnership for £3OO. Upon reaching Sydney the New Zealander handed over £2OO in New Zealand notes to be changed into gold. The stranger disappeared altogether with the money. Detectives arrested a man at Newtown and at the same time seized £135 in New Zealand notes.
