BASKET BALL
A GRADE. The game between Otago Girls’ High School and First Church started evenly. First drew ahead in the first five minutes, till the score stood at 4—2 in their favour, the fourth for First being a long shot by Miss Foster. High then drew level, and then up to 6 —5 in High School s favour, the sixth being Miss Guppies from close up. First replied, and then evened up to 7 all. Up and down play followed, Girls’ High intercepting cleverly on occasions, till half time was called, with the score; O.G.H.S. 10, First Church 8. The second spell opened with a First score by Miss Mabel Mattingly, and a second evened the score to 10 all, and then to ll—lo. High School's turn then came (11 all), but First weire still having moot of the pluy> an d maintained their lead till nearly time, when the score became 13 all. First (Miss Foster) then took the lead again, but for lees than a minute, Miss Cupples evening, and then gaining a lead of two. When there were two minutes to go the score was 18 all, and the excitement was intense indeed. The last five minutes were played at a very fast pace, both teams putting forth their best. The game throughout was marred to some extent by fumbling, not the least offenders being High School, who are usually free from this fault. O.G.H.S 20 First .. .... .... • • • • 19 Mr J.
