THE ASHBURTON MEETING
At the Ashburton Club’s meeting today the outstanding feature will be the Saplin K Stakes, and the embryo champions should provide a fine race.* Edna Woithy has been doing impressive track work and is likely to be made favourite over Fmnebrogue and the Ciro-Tempest bracket. O. E. Hooper holds a strong hand in the Ashburton County Handicap with Milo Minto, Great Logan, and Satin King, and whatever he starts, will be solidly supported. Rollo and Erin’s Fortune look the most likely to upset backers’ calculations. Horses likely to be fancied in the other events are:—-Jester, Red and Golden Harvest in the Trial Handicap; Edith Voyage, Rembrandt, and Modern Girl in the Longbeach Handicap; Glenlake, Ayrmont Chimes, and Logaleen in the Acton Handicap; Welcome Guy, Mountain Mist, and Iwanta in the Stewards’ 'Handicap; Arethusa, Tenedos, and Sodium in the. Winter Handicap; and Harold Denver, Bracken, and Compromise in the Farewell Handicap.
