COOKS AND STEWARDS’ UNION ' V 1 RESISTANCE TO REDUCTION.’ (Pee .United Pbess i ‘ WELLINGTON.June 12.The court’s 10 per cent, cut, it is understood, lias met with resistance by ,the members’ of the Cooks and ’ Stewards’ Union, in case; of the Union Company’s Waimarino and Katoa, at present at Wellington. The Waimarinp’s proyidore department had been signed off, and- to-day the cooks and stewards refused to sign articles’at the amended.rates. The, Katoa has not yet signed off, but the men have stated that they will not accept the new rates. It is understood that an application by ; the union , for a new award is to come before the court on June 19, and : that, application for exemption from the 10 per cent, cut has already been filed. The uhion officially denied all knowledge of the matter. '
