Captain Hilton, marine superintendent' for Canadian National Steamships, left for Auckland by the express yesterday. Mr P. N. Rundle, manager of the Vacuum Oil Company, was a passenger by the mid-day express yesterday for Wellington. Mr H, Buck, general manager in New Zealand for Messrs Lysaght and Co., was a passenger for Wellington by the midday express yesterday. Judge Gilfedder, of the Native Land Court, accompanied by his associate, Mr J. H. Grace, will leave for Invercargill this morning to attend the sittings of the court in that centre. Mr 0. Hutchinson, of Timaru, South Island manager for .the Colonial Motor Company, Ltd., New Zealand distributors for Ford Motors, is at present in Dunedin. Appreciation of the worth of the late Mr David Bacon, of Broad Bay, as a citizen was expressed at the meeting ot the Peninsula County Council yesterday, •and a motion of sympathy with his daughters was passed. The Rev. H. Raymond Turner, who will supply the pulpit at the Mornington Baptist Church for the next three months, has just completed a refresher course at the Baptist College, Auckland. N, Armstrong), United (candidate to be selected), and an Independent. The choice of a United Party candidate appears to lie between Mr Herbert Hall and Mr A. Kennedy, the Deputy Mayor. W Foreman, who has been in charge of the Nascby parish for some vears, was met recently by a large number of friends and members of his congrcgation, who wished to bid him farewell before he departed to take up his new duties in the Waikouaiti district. Appreciation of his services to the district was expressed by several speakers, and Mr Foreman was presented with an envelope of notes from the Naseby and Wedderburn parish, a wallet of notes, from the Waipiata members of, his congregation, a wallet from the Naseby Lawn Tennis Club, a leather suit case and chinaware from the Oturehua members, and a leather-bound copy of the new Anglican Hymnal from the staff and scholars of the Naseby Anglican Sunday School. Mr Foreman briefly returned thanks for the gifts.
