DISTRESS IN THE CITY
ro riif EDITOR Sir,—l would ask you to allow- me to mention one simple method of helping unemployed families. It is that each housekeeper, who can afford to do so, should once a fortnight spare lib of foousluff, such as tea, sugar, flour, butter jam. etc., out of her pantry, to he left at the Mayoress’s depot or any other depot, so that the needy would receive the gifts at once. This scheme is very successful in Christchurch. —I am, etc., . Henley, June 10. Sympathiser.
