RUGBY FOOTBALL
THE TAKING OF A MARK , ~ t INTERPRETATION OF RULE.' WELLINGTON, June 11. The New Zealand Rugby Union Management: Committee Jast night adhered to its previous ruling regarding a mark —that a player, in claiming a fair catch, must be wholly supported on both feet, and the heel mark must be made immediately. The word simultaneously had been used to define immediately. It meant at the same time. A New Zealand Referees’ Executive ruling, which indicated that the heel mark could be made immediately after the catch, was incorrect. Members were quite definite that the catching of the ball and the making of the heel mark must be done in the one action.
